Description

The better-feeling better-posture chair.

Finnish furniture company myKolme and industrial designer Jonas Hakaniemi have paired up to create a saddle chair that promises to do your posture and your office a world of good.

The beautifully and thoughtfully designed ILOA drops your knees below your hips, bringing your spine into healthy alignment—a position that helps distribute weight to your body's lower half, engaging your core and easing strain on your lower back. Unlike most saddle chairs, ILOA also gives your thighs all the support of a traditional 90-degree chair.

ILOA is crafted from sustainably-sourced, PEFC-certified wood, and topped with a weight-supporting padded cushion in five color options.

Your saddle seat riding lesson.

True to their name, saddle chairs give you the tall, wide stance of horse-back riding. The benefit of this posture is that by opening the angles of your hips and knees, you're encouraging your spine into its most natural and comfortable curve.

The position can take some getting used to, so to start out, try using the seat for about 15-20 minutes at a time, with good breaks in between. Or, better, just listen to your body—it always knows best.
